Lake Keowee crystal clear days with steam fog coming off the water is a spectacular sight to see. It happens every year about this time and is one of our favorite happenings. Makes for excellent pictures and videos! Another great thing about this time of year, beyond the Christmas lights of course, is the fact that all of the leaves are off of the trees. An excellent time to look at Lake Keowee properties and get a feel for what all is around them.
How’s business? Still have plenty of buyers, but we need more Lake Keowee inventory to satisfy their needs. We were able to put one Lake Keowee waterfront lot under contract last week as well as a house. Came close to another but weren’t fast enough on the draw to get it as it went under contract in an afternoon. That’s still the way things are currently. You’ve got to be quick with the offer and ready to make a move when the right property comes your way.
We hope all of you guys have gotten your Christmas shopping completed. We’ll be doing a little bit of holiday traveling over the next few weeks. The Clemson Tigers have a game in Orlando on the 28th. See you there!
How to Sell Your Home For The Highest Price Possible
Here’s how to avoid mistakes that could cost hundreds, even thousands of dollars, when you sell your home.
The old notion of caveat emptor – “buyer beware” – has been turned on its head. Lately, with all of the talk about “buyers’ markets” and “changing real estate values,” as well as the myriad complexities and legal ramifications of today’s real estate transaction, a more appropriate sentiment may be “seller beware.”
For Sale By Owner vs. Hiring an Agent
Many homeowners believe that to get the most money out of their home sale they should sell it themselves, thereby saving the commission they would otherwise pay to a broker. Indeed, approximately one-fourth of hoem sellers each year do not use a real estate broker and about 72 percent of those are happy with the results they achieved.
However, close to half of that 72 percent also stated that the next time around they would hire a real estate agent to help them sell. Why?
For many, the time, paperwork, research and hassles involved in getting their home sold on their own were not worth the amount of money they saved in commissions to a broker.
For others, by the time they figured in the amount of fees paid to outside consultants, lawyers, inspectors, appraisers, and title, escrow and loan officers as well as marketing, advertising and other services and vendors, they may as well have paid the broker’s fee, which may have included some of these charges up front.
Some will also have discovered that the cost of recovering from a misstep or bad decision based on inexperience or lack of guidance more than outweighed the amount they saved in real estate agent fees.
More next week….
