Lake Keowee is heating up both in temperature and activity and with these comes an increased interest in Lake Keowee’s sister Lake Jocassee. For those of you who’ve never had the joy of checking out Lake Jocassee, plan to do it now. You’ll thank me after you’ve taken the time to check out this gorgeous lake. We see it as one of the amenities of Lake Keowee as it is connected by a 300 ft. high dam that also functions as a hydroelectric facility. If you own up on the north end of Lake Keowee, say in the Cliffs Falls North community you could pull your boat out of Keowee and be on Lake Jocassee in less than 15 minutes. 

Lake Jocassee has Devil’s Fork State Park as the main entrance point. There you will find camping, both tent and RV, park offices with a store that even has fishing rods you can use to try and catch some brown trout or the like. This is also where the main landing is located with plenty of parking and easy water access. Across from the landing is the recreational area where you can rent canoes, etc. and a beach for just hanging out. Even if you’re on the southern end of Keowee you’re only around 30 minutes from Jocassee. There is some property for sale on Jocassee, but very little of it comes on the market and when it does you’d better be ready to open your pocketbook. This additional amenity of a very different lake a few minutes away makes Lake Keowee an even better place to end up.
