While enjoying a gorgeous day around Lake Keowee, I chanced upon a newspaper that had the current weather forecast for the Lake Keowee area. Seeing as the college baseball season is starting this weekend, I assumed it’d show that there will be three incredible, springlike days coming up on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Much to my surprise/dismay, it predicted rain and possibly snow on Saturday. Knock it off! Don’t go ruining my early spring, Old Man Winter! Don’t y’all head out to buy bread and milk, I’ll bet you a dozen Krispy Kreme Hot Nows we won’t see the first flake of snow. Spring is here!
How’s business? Up and down. Two of the listings we’d planned on getting decided to wait for a bit, possibly experiencing potential sellers’ remorse. The good news is we still got one that should sell quickly. We were also able to put an interior house in Cedar Creek under contract as well as fielding an offer on another one of our listings over the weekend. Certainly, doesn’t feel like winter.
You sellers need to take advantage of the current situation. I know you want to keep that Lake Keowee real estate, but it’s time to let someone else play. We’ll sell you another one in a few years. Everybody wins!!!

Don’t get stung by unexpected fees
One of the most common errors I’ve seen borrowers make is in not considering the various fees they will end up paying in figuring out the final cost of a home. Let’s take a look at what you can expect.
Tips for the best deals
Now that you know a little more about mortgages and where they come from, I’ll share with you my tips for getting the best deal and saving yourself a lot of headaches in the process.
Prequalify Before You Shop for a Home – Smart buyers make sure to know exactly how much they can afford to borrow before beginning to look at homes. You can bet that the seller’s agent will ask if you’ve been prequalified; if you haven’t, they may decide you’re not a serious buyer. Having a deal in your pocket is always good ammunition in negotiations. (However, I generally have my buyers “preapprove” before they start looking at homes. This is a much more savvy way – you have it in writing, providing you even more leverage when making offers and during negotiations.)
