Keowee Expert This is More Like It

Can you believe that just over 3 weeks ago temperatures around Lake Keowee were in the 90’s? Maybe if you’re up in Michigan and reading this you can, but if you’re from anywhere near here it seems like the weather has gone schizo. I was in shorts last week. Now I’m loving this thick pull over I’m sporting. My daughter made the comment, “yesterday it looked like summer and today it looks like full on fall.” What’s in store for tomorrow? Stay tuned…

Well no matter how it got here, fall is here and it is stunningly beautiful. Most folks love this time of year especially, those 60 and 70 degree days with crystal clear blue skies and the smell of wood smoke in the air. Apparently it makes them excited about houses and lots around Lake Keowee as well as we’ve had a ton of showings on our homes currently listed as well as an offer on one and a contract on a waterfront lot. It’s great to see the activity remaining strong into November. Hopefully this kind of weather will stick around until the beginning of December and we can put a few more properties under contract before the really cold days hit (cold for us southerners – 40-50’s with a few days up in the 70’s. Ain’t it grand?).

Interest rates remain low and the stock market has hit another high. Why not take some time out of your busy schedule to buy a Lake Keowee home or lot? The inventory is excellent with some really great deals out there for you. Take advantage before someone beats you to it!

How To Avoid Paying Too Much

Tip No. 11 Not all fixer-uppers are good buys.

You may be the sort of person who looks at a home in need of significant work as a challenge and an opportunity to make money. Many people have bought fixer-uppers at below-market rates, invested a little sweat equity or more than a little money on renovation, then eventually put it back on the market at a profit.

But if it isn’t priced low enough, you won’t recoup your investment of time, trouble and expense. Before you proceed, do a careful evaluation of what you’ll have to invest and consult with your Realtor to learn what you can reasonably expect to make when you put the home back on the market. And be sure to include the unexpected – there’s no such thing as a “sure thing.”
