Keowee Expert How Much is Enough or Is Enough Too Much?

Keowee Expert How Much is Enough or Is Enough Too Much?

Oct 23, 2019 | Posted by matt | Uncategorized |

As we enter the fall around Lake Keowee we are beginning to see the leaves changing and of course falling off at an increased pace. I continue to wrestle with how often to blow the leaves. Should you do it every day for a little bit of time or every couple of weeks and make it a big chore? This year I’ve opted for everyday for a little bit of time. The nice thing about this system is my home looks more tidy and as long as I’m not waylaid with a long trip or too much work/family activities or inclement weather I can keep up the pace. The bad news is the leaves have just started to come down and will begin to come down more quickly (I’m reminded of Sisyphus) as well as in much greater abundance over the next few weeks. I’ll chalk it up as an exercise in resilience and helping to get my steps goal completed (and not an exercise in futility).

Yes, this does have a lot to do with real estate around Lake Keowee. If you have a home or property for sale you must make sure it stays consistently good looking meaning if you don’t do it someone has to or it could affect how much money you net when or even if you sell your property in a timely manner. Nobody wants to buy into your unkempt property, unless it costs them less money. The moral of the story? If you want the most money, with the least amount of stress in the least amount of time keep your property in good shape.

Leaf blowing aside it’s been another busy week. We listed another Lake Keowee waterfront home and Lake Keowee waterfront lot. We were also able to put one of our home listings under contract! That’s yet another bang up week for Top Guns Realty. We hope to get yet another home under contract before the week is out. Fingers crossed!

Let us know what questions you may have. We’d be happy to answer them via this blog,  the phone, etc. Don’t hesitate!

How To Avoid Paying Too Much
Tip No. 9 Don’t ignore red flags when evaluating a home’s pluses and minuses.
When evaluating the advantages and drawbacks of a particular property, be sure you know the difference between acceptable and unacceptable problems.
Some issues – peeling paint, worn carpeting, ugly wallpaper – are cosmetic and can be easily remedied. In fact, you can use these “problems” during negotiations to lower the asking price – after all, you’ll need to spend money to bring the house up to snuff. Make careful note of what you se that can be used to your advantage. Don’t nit-pick, however – if taken to extremes, you could end up alienating the seller and creating a hostile atmosphere.
Other problems may be warnings to walk away. Major foundation cracks, evidence of previous water damage, signs of serious dry rot or termite damage, antiquated electrical systems or plumbing – any one of these may be cause to reconsider your interest.
Don’t let a house’s positive attributes blind you to very real problems. If you do, the chances are good that you’ll end  up spending much more money than you ever expected down the line.
More next week….
