No? Good! Think about a summer vacation on Lake Keowee, but don’t ponder it too long because you will need to go ahead and lock up your spot. The good news for you owners that rent out your home is that activity has increased over last year causing fewer vacancies (actually almost no vacancies) for the top vacation dates (i.e. July 4th).
This brings up an interesting topic. Can I rent out my Lake Keowee home and defray some of the expense? Short answer is yes, longer answer is you’ve got to answer a few more questions. For example: what subdivision is your home located? Are you looking to do short-term and use it yourself as well or are you primarily considering long-term? If you want more information, give Rick Miller (our rental manager) a call 864-784-9977. He can guide you to the correct answers.
As for the Lake Keowee real estate market, things remain a bit sluggish so far. We were able to get one more house under contract last week and we do have a few good tours lined up for this week. As for the overall market it’s keeping pace with the numbers from last year instead of blowing them out of the water which isn’t terrible news. It’s still early in the season and we expect the pace to pick up considerably over the next couple of months. It will take awhile for the good real estate numbers from the normal housing market’s recovery to filter up to the higher-end Lake Keowee market. But until that happens, keep your fingers crossed!
