Deluge

Oct 15, 2014 | Posted by | Uncategorized |

Not sure what it’s going to be like over the next couple of days in your neck of the woods, but for the Lake Keowee area the animals are already lining up two by two. Think they know something we don’t? I’m guessing rain, and lot’s of it. It’s not particularly unusual for this time of year around here and the timing is nice because we had actually fallen into moderate drought conditions just over the past few weeks. This “deluge” should be what the doctor ordered, bringing the lake water levels back up to comfortable depths again (Keowee stays at a comfortable level as it is highly controlled, but Jocassee, which is used to keep Keowee at said comfortable level, was down about 12 feet). Hopefully by Friday Lake Jocassee will be up in the high 90’s again and teetering just below full pond.

As for real estate sales, the rain has put a bit of a damper on our activities and caused some moderate delays but we were fortunate enough to have a tour this past Sunday. Showing houses is not so bad, it’s showing recently developed land that’s much more of a challenge. We were able to get one couple out but another decided to bag it until next week, which may have been a wise decision. So long story short, no contracts this week – though both tours will lead to contracts for next week. It’s gonna happen!

October and November are shaping up to be the best those months have been for quite a number of years for us. We expect to double the sales from last year and hope to continue the trend well into December. Inevitable though as it is, buyers will be fewer and farther between and we’ll hit the winter time sales season. The good news is the folks who are looking in winter have all done their homework and are ready to buy! So, which are you???
