Smoke
Needless to say – dadgummit I did it again. If it were needless to say I wouldn’t say it so – I mean needed to say, the raging forest fires in the area aren’t helping us enjoy the beautiful colors of the season, not to mention causing some of us to run for our lives. We were “mandatorily evacuated” from our home over the weekend, dead in the middle of our Clemson football tailgating (I’m a utterly convinced that the reason my Tigers didn’t win on Saturday was that my tailgating was cut short – dadgum forest fire). Though I make light of the situation, it’s a scary thought that your house could just be taken away like that. Take some time to call your insurance person and make sure you are properly covered – you just never know. The breathing hasn’t been a given, either. It’s like L.A. in 1975 or a cigar bar but everybody is smoking Swisher Sweets. Last year, way too much rain. This year, way too little rain though the little bit we got on Saturday night (the first drops in over a month) couldn’t have come at a better time as we were able to return home on Sunday. Now we just need a LOT more. The good news is nothing on Keowee or Jocassee seems to be under threat, just a lot of annoying smoke.
As for business the smoke hasn’t slowed us down as we were able to put 2 houses and two lots under contract over the past week along with listing a nice lot in The Summit. That’s $2,200,000 in volume in one week! Not bad for November and don’t even think we’d consider packing it in for the rest of the year as we plan to sell everything we can no matter the reason or season!
Sellers, there are buyers in the market and the ones looking this time or year are serious (if you are a seller, re-read that last sentence and make it your mantra). So, have your homes ready to show and your lots cleaned up and pretty. An under-brushing now will last for quite some time and you will have a leg up in 2017!
Buyers, man what a great time to buy Lake Keowee Real Estate! Don’t be gun shy, pull that trigger!
