So sayeth the Boy Scouts (you know the motto), but how could their famous creed apply to Lake Keowee real estate sales? Well, think about it for just a moment. No matter which side of the transaction (purchaser or seller) you find yourself, you should be more than a little prepared. But how? I’m so glad you asked…
If you are on the selling side, be prepared for an offer. How would you react if a potential Lake Keowee purchaser came in 15% below your asking price? 10%? 5%? Knowing the answer and being prepared to respond can be the difference between getting a deal done and waiting for the next possibility. As for you purchaser’s, first and foremost have your financing in place (we have a list of mortgage providers that can help you out – it doesn’t take long and it enhances your comfort level). Make a list of important characteristics of the property – numbers of beds, baths, etc. Make a list of important features for the property – steep, flat, wooded, cleared, dock in place, you know, a dream house list. When you head out to look at property, be prepared to hoof it, if you’re looking at land bring your hiking boots, bug spray, water, sunscreen, etc.
The lists above are by no means all-inclusive; add anything else that’s important to you. With a little forethought and an extra bit of time, preparing these things up front can make all the difference in the world on the back end.
