Flying Cars/Moon Life
If you haven’t noticed it’s a lot easier nowadays to pick out a property than it used to be. When we first started selling property on Lake Keowee back in the ’80’s (no, not the 1880’s) we had a big topographic relief map in our office, made out of wood looking like a big table/diorama – cutting edge for it’s day and worth quite a bit of coin. We also had a computer that served solely as a database of names and contact information but eons away from what your smart watch can do today. To understand a piece of real estate, you had to walk it, you had to go to the courthouse and get a copy of the covenants and restrictions, you had to look through a book of sold similar properties (several books actually) to understand its value -just one property mind you – and you had a one page contract to purchase it. Fast forward 26 years and my how things have changed. New rule, in the vein of Moore’s Law that computer processing speeds will double every two years, the amount of helpful information you have today in making a Lake Keowee waterfront property purchase decision is 7 times greater than it was 26 years ago which is precisely the increase in number of pages of today’s contract! That is, if you are looking at our Web site where you will find everything at your fingertips, including video walk-throughs, aerial videos, 360 degree video, living picture videos (all in lifelike 4k mind you), covenants, maps, satellite views, subdivision web pages with amenity listings, and so on and so forth ad infinitum amen. Talk about going from caveman days to nirvana. Heck we even had 2 properties go under contract last year just from our videos. We can see the future and it is NOW and we are the ones making it!
As for business this past week, steady and solid. Closed $262,000 in real estate and are negotiating another offer. Slow compared to last week, but if we’d kept up that pace we’d have sold everything twice long ago – instead of just half of it once (ha, ha!). We’re looking forward to another good week as we head into yet another beautiful weather weekend. By the way, we need more house listings…got any?
