April Madness
It’s getting close… close we can smell it! The run on property will begin shortly after the last college asketball alley-oop. Folks in great numbers will begin to think of how they’re going to spend the summer. They will be looking, again in greater numbers, at purchasing Lake Keowee real estate. Be it a lot with a dock or a finished home, the next four months is when the majority of Lake Keowee real estate tours will take place. If your property doesn’t stand out above the veritable cacophony of other for sale properties, by September you may be questioning why you even bothered to try to get in the game. Yeah, the coach came over and said, “If you want to play, you’re going to have to practice until you sweat blood and be beyond ready when your time comes.” In September the reality will be that your property just didn’t have the natural beauty to overcome its price versus the competition. Throughout the game, he (your now animate property) was too busy trying to re-live his glory years, back in 06 & 07 when his value was 40% higher. He’ll say things like, “Man, those where the days, I should have been on the market back then!” Looking back at it when the game is over he will realize that in the spring he had a choice, face the music, get a shave and a haircut, practice as if he’s not the only player who wanted in the game (he should have gotten himself under-brushed-landscaped, inspected and repaired, taken a long look at his value in the mirror–gotten himself appraised and lived by it, gotten a dock permit, etc.) he just kept hoping 2006 and 2007 had come again this year. In an effort to mitigate the mistake he’ll say something like, “It was the coaches fault he didn’t force me to do what was necessary.” I’ll just get a new coach he’ll advertise in the Wall Street Journal, which will certainly overcome my price and get me what I’m really worth! All of those folks who read the Wall Street Journal are way too dense to get a good idea of the market before they make a purchase.”
For some folks this might be tough love. The good news is that it’s love from someone who’ll tell you when you have a piece of spinach in your teeth or it’s time to chew a piece of gum!
