Williams–Ligon House
The Williams–Ligon House, also known as Cedar Rock Plantation and Magnolia Estates, is a historic farm complex located at 1866 Farrs Bridge Road in Easley, Pickens County, South Carolina. Constructed in 1895, the main residence is a two-story, frame I-house featuring Folk Victorian architectural elements, such as spindle work, turned porch posts, balusters, and decorative brackets.
Built by Barnet H. Williams, the property was later expanded in the early 20th century by Henry G. Ligon. The 83-acre estate includes several contributing structures:
- A circa 1875 barn, which served as the original Williams residence
- A smokehouse
- Multiple mid-20th-century barns and farm buildings
The farm was notable for its diversified agricultural practices, including the cultivation of cotton, corn, and wheat, as well as cattle farming for both dairy and beef production. Efforts were also made to promote soil conservation through the planting of grasses like fescue, clover, and Bermuda.
In recognition of its architectural and historical importance, the Williams–Ligon House was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 8, 2012.
Today, the Williams–Ligon House stands as a testament to the agricultural heritage and architectural styles of rural South Carolina in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
