William Few Bridge
The William Few Bridge in Greer, South Carolina, is a historic landmark commemorating William Few, an American Founding Father, lawyer, politician, and jurist. Born in Maryland in 1748, Few played a pivotal role as a delegate to the Constitutional Convention and was one of the signers of the U.S. Constitution. He also served as Georgia’s first U.S. Senator from 1789 to 1793.
The bridge is located on Fews Bridge Road (S.C. State Highway 113), crossing over the South Tyger River to form Lake Robinson. Since at least 1882, bridges at this site have been named after William Few. Few, a pioneer settler of the future Taylors area, migrated from Georgia in 1787 and constructed the original bridge here. His descendants have continued to inhabit the region.
The William Few Bridge Historical Marker is situated at 2601 Fews Bridge Rd, Greer, SC 29651. This serene location offers visitors a chance to reflect on the area’s rich history while enjoying the scenic beauty of the surrounding landscape.
