Trinity Episcopal Church
Trinity Episcopal Church is a historic church located in Abbeville, South Carolina. Founded in 1842, the congregation initially worshiped in the Abbeville Courthouse before constructing a small clapboard building. The current Gothic Revival-style church, designed by Charleston-born architect George Edward Walker, was completed in 1859. With its 125-foot steeple, it was the tallest building in South Carolina outside of Charleston at the time of its construction.
The church is the oldest standing church in Abbeville and is known for its classic Gothic architecture. It features pointed arches, lancet windows, and a steeply pitched roof, which are characteristic of the Gothic Revival style.
Trinity Episcopal Church is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and continues to serve as an active place of worship. The church is located at 200 Church Street, Abbeville, SC 29620.
