Tamassee DAR School Historical Marker
The Tamassee DAR School Historical Marker commemorates the establishment and enduring legacy of the Tamassee DAR School, founded in 1919 by the South Carolina Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Tamassee, South Carolina, the school was created to serve underprivileged children of Appalachia, emphasizing education, good citizenship, and patriotism.
The historical marker is situated near the school’s entrance at 1925 Bumgardner Drive, Tamassee, SC 29686. It provides visitors with insights into the school’s founding principles and its significance in the region’s educational history.
In recognition of its historical and cultural importance, the Tamassee DAR School campus was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 16, 2012.
