St. John’s Lutheran Church
St. John’s Lutheran Church is a historic congregation located in Walhalla, South Carolina. Established on November 20, 1853, by 38 German Lutheran immigrants, the church was formed to serve the spiritual needs of settlers who founded Walhalla in 1850. The original church building, constructed between 1859 and 1861, still stands at 301 W. Main Street and is recognized on the National Register of Historic Places.
St. John’s Lutheran Church is known for its welcoming community, emphasizing worship, spiritual growth, and service. The congregation gathers for worship in their sanctuary and offers online services via Facebook Live. Additionally, they host a breakfast and Bible study session at 9:30 AM before the 11:00 AM worship service.
