Republic Theater
The Republic Theater, also known as the Falls Theater, is a historic movie theater located at 806 Dearborn Street in Great Falls, South Carolina. Constructed between 1921 and 1922 by the Republic Cotton Mills, it served as a cultural hub for the local community until its closure in 1974.
The theater is a rectangular, light-colored brick structure set on a limestone-colored stucco foundation. Its façade features a prominent segmental arch entrance adorned with terra cotta decorations and a molded terra cotta cornice, reflecting early 20th-century architectural styles. This design was crafted by the architectural firm J.E. Serrine & Co.
In recognition of its architectural and historical importance, the Republic Theater was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 26, 1980
