Providence Presbyterian Church in Lowndesville, South Carolina, is a historic congregation with roots dating back to 1842. It was established through the merger of two local churches—Providence and New Harmony Presbyterian—bringing together 80 charter members under the leadership of Reverend John D. Wilson. The current church building was constructed shortly thereafter on a 2.5-acre site. Reflecting the social norms of the time, the original structure included a slave gallery and a separate entrance for enslaved congregants.
