Pickens House
The Pickens House located at 118 N. Elm St in Pendleton, South Carolina, is a charming historic home built in 1860 by Dr. Thomas Pickens as a wedding gift for his bride. Interestingly, she declined to live in the house, preferring her parents’ residence instead. Consequently, the Green and Sitton families occupied the home in its early years. Remarkably, most of the house’s original construction remains intact, except for the brick wall that now surrounds the property .
If you’re interested in visiting, the Pickens House is located in Pendleton, SC. While specific visiting hours aren’t listed, the Pendleton Historic Foundation offers tours of other historic homes in the area, such as Ashtabula and Woodburn. These homes are open for “Walk-Up” tours on Sundays at 2:00 PM and 3:30 PM, with no reservations required .
