Ouzts-Walker House
The Ouzts-Walker House, located at 708 Calhoun Street in Johnston, South Carolina, is a historic two-story, weather boarded residence constructed between 1881 and 1882. The house features a hip roof and a central double-door entrance with sidelights and a transom. Flanking the entrance are two full-length six-over-six light windows, each adorned with pedimented surrounds. A pedimented balcony and hip roof porch, supported by Tuscan columns, enhance the facade. The gable ends are decorated with imbricated shingles, small round louvered vents, and pent roofs, while the windows throughout the house boast pedimented surrounds. Additionally, three interior chimneys with corbelled caps add to the architectural interest of the property.
This residence was built by M. Toney Turner, a notable local builder and former mayor of Johnston from 1905 to 1907.
The Ouzts-Walker House is part of the Johnston Historic District, which is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
