Old Oak Grove Schoolhouse
A cornerstone in the Oak Grove schoolhouse in Walhalla honors its builder, J.L. Hamby, who completed the building in 1880. It likely served students for much of the first half of the 20th century. Today the school is owned by the Oconee County Soil and Water Conservation District, which is raising funds to restore the school. Once renovations are complete, plans are to use the building as an Agricultural and Natural Resources Environmental Center.
