Mobley L. Jeter House
The Mobley L. Jeter House is a historic residence located at 701 East Main Street in Union, South Carolina. Constructed circa 1914, this one-and-a-half-story weatherboard home is a contributing property within the East Main Street–Douglass Heights Historic District, which was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.
The house exhibits Dutch Colonial Revival architectural influences, characterized by its gambrel roof and a projecting gambrel-roofed bay with an oriel window on the left façade. A one-story porch with grouped colonnettes and a slat balustrade extends across the central and right portions of the façade.
The residence was built for Mobley L. Jeter, a prominent merchant in Union during the early 20th century. The Jeter family has deep roots in Union County, with several members contributing significantly to the region’s development.
As a private residence, the Mobley L. Jeter House is not open to the public. However, its architectural features can be appreciated from the street. Visitors are encouraged to view the exterior respectfully from public sidewalks or roads.
