Magnolia Dale House Museum
The Magnolia Dale House Museum is a historic plantation home located at 320 Norris Street in Edgefield, South Carolina. Built in 1843, this residence exemplifies antebellum Southern architecture and has played a significant role in the region’s history.
Constructed by Samuel Brooks in 1837, the house was later acquired by Alfred J. Norris around 1870. In 1930, the Kendall Company purchased the property, and in 1959, it was transferred to the Edgefield County Historical Society. Since then, the society has operated it as a museum, preserving its historical integrity and significance.
Today, the Magnolia Dale House serves as a museum housing numerous portraits, furnishings, and artifacts related to the history of Edgefield County and its people. It hosts several community events annually, including the Camellia Show in February and the Christmas Tour of Churches Reception in December.
The museum is open by appointment. To schedule a visit or learn more about upcoming events, you can contact the Edgefield County Historical Society at 803-637-2233.
