Lyde Irby Darlington House
The Lyde Irby Darlington House, also known as the Monroe House, is a historic residence located at 110 Irby Avenue in Laurens, South Carolina. Built around 1899, this two-story frame dwelling showcases an eclectic blend of architectural styles, including Queen Anne, Eastlake, and Classical Revival. Notable features of the house include polygonal bays and a wraparound porch, which contribute to its distinctive character. In recognition of its architectural significance, the house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 19, 1986 .
The house was originally constructed for Lyde Irby Darlington, a prominent figure in the Laurens community. Over the years, the residence has been well-preserved, maintaining much of its original charm and architectural integrity.
