Kilgo-Clinkscales House
The Kilgo-Clinkscales House is a historic residence located at 134 Wofford Campus Drive on the campus of Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Constructed in 1892 at a cost of $3,000, the house is named after its first two residents: Rev. John C. Kilgo, a professor of metaphysics and later president of Trinity College (now Duke University), and Dr. John G. Clinkscales, a Wofford alumnus and influential faculty member.
Over the years, the Kilgo-Clinkscales House has served as the residence for more than a dozen Wofford leaders and their families, including the college’s provosts. In 2024, the house began a new chapter as Wofford’s first dedicated alumni house. The upper floor now houses the Office of Philanthropy and Engagement, while the first floor is being transformed into a flexible venue for alumni gatherings. Planned amenities include a conference room, dining area, kitchen, coffee bar, and a small library featuring past issues of The Bohemian, the college’s yearbook.
