Hamilton-Jeter House
The Hamilton-Jeter House, also known as the Dr. Joseph H. Hamilton House, is a historic residence located at 413 East Main Street in Union, South Carolina. Built circa 1902, the house underwent significant alterations around 1925. It is a contributing property within the East Main Street–Douglass Heights Historic District, which was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.
The Hamilton-Jeter House is associated with Dr. Joseph H. Hamilton, a prominent local physician, and the Jeter family, a notable lineage in Union County’s history. The Jeter family has deep roots in the area, with ancestors like James Jeter, born in 1759, who married Mary Crosby and settled in Union County.
