Denver Downs Farm
Denver Downs Farm, also known as the Denver Downs Farmstead or Garrison Farm, is a historic and family-owned farm located at 1515 Denver Road, Anderson, South Carolina. Established in 1869 by the Garrison family, it has been continuously operated by the same family for over 150 years and was recognized as a “Century Farm” in 1974 .
The farm’s main house, built around 1890, is a notable example of Colonial Revival architecture, featuring white clapboard siding, a metal roof, and a wraparound porch with classical details. The property includes 13 agricultural outbuildings dating from before 1872 to the early 1950s, reflecting its continuous use as a working farm since the 1870s. In recognition of its historical and architectural significance, Denver Downs Farmstead was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 7, 2007.
Today, Denver Downs Farm is a popular agri-tourism destination, offering a variety of seasonal events and activities:
- Fall Festival: Featuring a 10-acre corn maze, pumpkin patch, live music, and over 35 family-friendly activities, including pig races, zipline, ropes course, and a jumping pillow .
- Pumpkin Nights: Evening events with lighted trails, photo opportunities, private bonfires, and live music
- Field Trips: Educational programs for students, combining learning with fun farm activities .
- Group Events: Facilities available for birthday parties, corporate events, and other group gatherings .
The farm has received national recognition, being voted among the top corn mazes in the United States by USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice awards .
