Davis Plantation
Davis Plantation is a historic estate located near Monticello in Fairfield County, South Carolina. Constructed around 1845 by Dr. James B. Davis, a physician educated at the South Carolina Medical College and the Medical College of Pennsylvania, the plantation stands as a testament to 19th-century Southern architecture and agricultural development. Dr. Davis, a descendant of Revolutionary War Captain James Kincaid, was an early pioneer in South Carolina’s agricultural advancements.
The main house is a two-story, white frame structure exemplifying Greek Revival style. It features a hipped roof, two substantial chimneys, and a gabled front portico supported by four square, paneled Doric columns. The design reflects the architectural trends of the mid-19th century and showcases the craftsmanship of the era.
Davis Plantation was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 6, 1971, under reference number 71000776. The listing encompasses an area of approximately 30 acres.
