The Arthur Barnwell House (also known as the Barnwell–DeCamps House) is a notable historic Queen Anne–style residence in the Greer area of Greenville County, SC. Built between 1880 and 1900 for Arthur Barnwell, first president of Pelham Manufacturing Company, situated opposite the Pelham Mill along the Enoree River. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places on March 19, 1982, valued for its unique Queen Anne architecture and ties to regional industrial history.
A 2½-story wood‑frame structure with:
-
- Irregular layout featuring polygonal bay projections to the northeast and southwest.
- One-story kitchen ell and ship‑lap siding with contrasting painted trim.
- Steep gabled roof (now composition shingles atop the original metal); supported by brick pier foundation; three chimneys.
- Presence of a barn with raised brick foundation and historic framing across the river.
The home was disassembled around 2015 for preservation purposes—cut into sections and transported to a new site near Abner Creek Road. As of the latest reports, the dismantled pieces remain awaiting reconstruction; the original site is now cleared. Formerly located along SC‑14 near Pelham Mill—now replaced by a vacant lot. Relic pieces exist off Abner Creek Road; the structure is not presently open to the public.
