Gaillard House
Gaillard House is located at 244 East Queen Street, Pendleton, SC. Built ca. 1840: A 1½-story weatherboard frame home with gable roof, hip dormers, and an elegant porch with plain columns on brick piers. Features include a central door flanked by sidelights and a transom, fanlight windows in gable ends, interior brick chimneys, and a rear shed-room addition. Associated with W. H. D. Gaillard, an influential community leader involved in the Blue Ridge Railroad, Pendleton Manufacturing Company, and long-time warden at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church (~40 years). Ties to mid-1800s industrial and religious development in Pendleton under Gaillard’s leadership. One of several preserved mid-19th-century residences—including Elam Sharpe House, Boxwood, Liberty Hall—reflecting Pendleton’s prosperous era. The home is privately owned and not generally open to the public, but visible from the street as part of the self-guided tour.
